Natural oxidation, or darkening of the metal, will occur over time (occurring faster when exposed to moisture).
Some of our designs have been purposely oxidized to add character and style and will not need to be cleaned with anything other than mild soap and water to maintain their appearance.
Others come with a high polish and will require cleaning on a regular basis to keep up their shine. We include tiny polishing cloths with most of our pieces. Oxidation can be removed by rubbing the jewelry with the cloth until the desired shine is reached.
*Another option for removing oxidation is to use plain old tooth paste. Just rub a small amount of paste over your jewelry until it's shiny and rinse thoroughly. This comes particularly in handy when cleaning jewelry for oral piercings. Oxidation occurs faster when exposed to moisture so we recommend cleaning oral jewelry every morning when brushing your teeth.
